Pikangikum Power Line Project

Pikangikum Power Line Project

The Pikangikum Power Line Project is a 117km power line connecting the community of Pikangikum First Nation to the Ontario Power Grid at Red Lake, Ontario. The project is being built due to the urgent power supply needs in Pikangikum First Nation, which is currently serviced by diesel generators that are at capacity and prone to frequent and sometimes prolonged outages.  This project is being developed by Wataynikaneyap Power.  Wataynikaneyap Power is a licensed transmission partnership equally owned by 22 First Nation communities, including Pikangikum First Nation and Fortis Inc.  Wataynikaneyap Power PM Inc., a wholly owned subsidiary of FortisOntario Inc., acts as project manager.  PowerTel Utilities Contractors Ltd. is acting as the General Contractor for the Project.

This site, along with the Project's Facebook Page, will provide ongoing updates and information on the Project.
