Typical Day on a Transmission Project


5:30 a.m. - Start the day (Camp accommodations or Hotel)

6:00 a.m. - Breakfast in Camp or Hotel. Obtain Lunch and snacks for the day

6:50 a.m. - Gather PPE, personal items and tools from Crew Dry

7:00 a.m. - General Safety Meeting to review awareness, findings from previous days and opportunities for improvement (OPI)

7:15 a.m. - Crews receive final instructions prior to travelling from the central location to work location


7:30 a.m. - Detailed Job Safe Plan (Tailboard) detailing tasks, hazards and controls discussed with crew and crew supervisor. Review all the items of performing the work safely and effectively including Emergency Response.

8:00 a.m. - Ready materials for the pole structure location being worked on. Inspection of Vehicles, Equipment and tools prior to each shift.

8:30 a.m. - Housekeeping and organizing the location to create a ‘safe work zone’.

10:00 a.m. - Coffee Break

10:15 a.m. - Continue working

12:00 p.m. - Lunch

12:30 p.m. - Continue working

2:45 p.m. - Make material review. Call in on radio material request for next day

3:00 p.m. - Coffee Break

3:15 p.m. - Return to work

5:15 p.m. - Complete tasks for the day. Put away tools. Do housekeeping

5:30 p.m. -  Secure Tools, Vehicles and Equipment

6:00 p.m. - Travel back to Central starting location

6:30 p.m. - Work clothes, boots, personal items and PPE stored in Crew Dry

6:45 p.m. - Return to Camp or Hotel
